C2C Expo 2009

Held on 4 November at the Golden Grove Arts & Recreation Centre, the 2009 C2C Expo was attended by approximately 400 students from 16 high schools.

Guest of honour and Patron of NAMIG, His Excellency Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce AC CSC RANR Governor of South Australia, visited the exhibits and chatted with students about their projects, before formally presenting student representatives from each school with a plaque to commemorate their participation in the C2C programme in 2009. Guests included: Mrs Liz Scarce; Ms Frances Bedford MP, Member for Florey; Mr Tony Zappia MP, Member for Makin; Hon John Dawkins MLC; Mayor Miriam Smith, City of Tea Tree Gully.  Other invited guests included local employers, C2C industry partners and representatives from local, state and federal governments.

The Expo is the final stage of the year's C2C projects and gives students the opportunity to showcase their innovations. Teams proudly exhibited their projects in the main auditorium, explaining how they came up with the concept and what problems they encountered along the way.

The 2009 Expo also included displays by students participating in the Engineers Without Borders project that was trialled by 5 C2C schools as an introduction at Year 9. Teams were introduced to the challenge of working with third world communities to develop engineering solutions for water, sanitation, food, energy, shelter and transportation.

C2C+ projects were also on display and presentations were made to Riverton & District High School, winner of the 2009 Genesis UAV Challenge, conducted by RAAF and BAE System, and the inaugural GM Holden GPS Tracking Project.

In addition to the main C2C Expo, several schools are now proudly holding their own expos to highlight their participation in the programme and inform junior students, teachers and parents.  C2C schools holding individual expos in 2009 are Craigmore High School, Salisbury High School, Riverton & District High School and Valley View Secondary School
